Early American Southwest Iron Arse (A.S.I.A) Paved

This is very much the same as our ASIA Paved trip trading a stop on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon for Hovenweep National Monument. Also, we don’t have near as much time for our choice of routes around Moab. Historically, the road to the North Rim doesn’t open until May 15th due to snow but the rest of the ASIA trip typically has good weather conditions at this time of year.

Total Cost : $5100

Day 1 - Arrive at your leisure in time for an orientation and welcome dinner to begin at 4:30 local time.

Day 2 - Saddle Time: 4 hours. 169 miles.

Meet for breakfast and planning at 7:00, geared up and warmed up by 8:15 and wheels rolling by 8:30. We head through Zion National Park stopping when possible at various overlooks for pictures or videos. After Zion we’ll visit Bryce Canyon. Though we’re not putting in lots of miles there are MANY things to see and much of this section has a lower speed limit due to the popularity of the National Park system. We’ll overnight in Escalante.

Day 3 - Saddle Time: 4 hours. 219 miles.

Breakfast at 7:30, warmed up at 8:45 and wheels rolling at 9:00. We ride through spectacular southwest USA scenery on 2 lane roads all the way through Capitol Reef National Park and end our day in Moab. Whether we ride efficiently or take an extra day there is a lot of quality riding to enjoy here.

Day 4 - Saddle Time: 4 hours. 180 miles.

After the usual morning routine we head for the end of the road in Arches National Park. Then we’ll back-track to highway 191 and go see Grand View Point in Canyonlands National Park. After we’ve taken sweet pictures of us and our motorcycles we’ll ride south and stay the night in Monticello, Utah.

Day 5 - Saddle Time: 5 hours. 270 miles. https://goo.gl/maps/wtKUNzuWvG2F9ktVA In terms of saddle time this is our longest day of the entire trip. Our highlight is the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument, Monument Valley and the Navajo Nation. We’ll overnight in Page, Arizona.

Day 6 - Saddle Time: 3.5 hours. 173 miles.

A short but interesting day takes us over the Colorado River, through Jacob Lake, Kanab and back through Zion National Park. If we prefer we can detour around Zion but it is most memorable riding East to West. After finishing our final day we’ll check in our bikes and gear.
